Evanston police say a pedestrian was struck in the leg by a vehicle fleeing a traffic stop in south Evanston about 4 p.m. today.

Cndr. Brian Henry says the fleeing car, which had been stolen in Skokie, then hit a tree near the intersection of Brown Avenue and Seward Street.

The people in the car fled the scene and Henry says that a police search for them was unsuccessful.

The pedestrian who was hit has been taken to St. Francis Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
