Evanston police are investigating a hit-and-run accident in which a pedestrian was struck by a pickup truck in the 300 block of Chicago Avenue shortly after midnight today.

Police Cmdr. Jay Parrott says the victim, a 46-year-old Chicago man, was walking eastbound across the street near Calvary Cemetery when the northbound vehicle hit him and fled northbound from the scene.

Witnesses say the vehicle may have been a white Ford F-150 pickup truck.

The victim was taken to St. Francis Hospital by Evanston Fire Department paramedics with several injuries and is listed in critical condition, but has regained consciousness.

Police are asking anyone with information regarding the possible identity of the hit and run driver or vehicle to contact the Evanston Police Department at 847-866-5000.
