Pepa named chamber president

James Pepa, a certified public accountant and director at Porte Brown LLC, has been selected as the new president of the Evanston Chamber of Commerce.

Pepa and the new members of the chamber's board will officially take office at the group's annual celebration Feb. 1.

Pepa says the board plans to focus on expanding its service offerings for member businesses.

"We’re compiling business intelligence, paving new educational avenues and building on networks that help member businesses foster new relationships; incite new ideas, solutions and creativity for growth, and open doors to new opportunities and possibilities,” Pepa added.

Other officers for 2016 are President-elect Jim Schermerhorn, vice president & commercial real estate broker at Schermerhorn & Company; Treasurer Ingrid Stafford, associate vice president & treasurer of Northwestern University, and Past-president Michael Corr, senior vice president of commercial banking at First Bank & Trust.

New to the board this year are Dale Bradley, financial advisor with Bradley Investment Center; Sandy Chen, proprietor of KOI Fine Asian Cuisine and Lounge, and Scott Miller, portfolio manager at Romano Wealth Management.

In addition to recognizing board members, the annual celebration will honor a Businessperson of the Year, Community Leadership Person of the Year, and Nonprofit/Public Service Person of the Year. Nominations for these awards are being accepted online through noon on Monday, Jan 11.
