Pets from dogs to hamsters and fish were blessed this afternoon in a ceremony a St. Marks Episcopal Church in Evanston.
The annual ceremony, in the St. Francis of Assisi garden at the church on Ridge Avenue, drew a couple dozen parishoners and nearly as many pets on a chilly and overcast day.
In addition to the blessing from the Rev. Debra Bullock, the dogs got a doggie biscuit, and the owners got a certificate and a medal to commemorate the occasion.
Similar ceremonies are planned for Sunday at St. Matthew’s and St. Luke’s Episcopal Churches in Evanston.
