‘Evanston’s Everyday Heroes’ a contest photo by Joe Simchak.
Kiwanis president Dr. Stamata Blanas says the number of entries and the quality of the photographs reached new heights in this year’s competition. Entitled “Legacy”, the theme dwelled on what is left behind, what matters in the community. Blanas, who spearheaded the contest through the Kiwanis Club, is stepping down as president of the organization. She hopes that the continuation of the contest will be her ‘legacy’ to the arts in the community.
Close to 100 entries made the task of judging for Norah Delaney, executive director of the Evanston Art Center, Mark Thomas, Evanston photographer, Chris Schneberger, Columbia College photography instructor and Dino Robinson, Robinson Design, a challenging exercise.
