A pickpocket took a wallet in the 1700 block of Sherman Avenue from a 74-year-old North Carolina woman who was visiting in downtown Evanston.  This among stories in Friday’s crime bulletin from Evanston police.
THEFT
1700 Sherman
A 74-year-old woman visitor from Waynesville, N.C., was the victim of a pickpocket who grabbed her wallet in the 1700 block of Sherman Avenue in downtown Evanston between noon and 2 p.m. Thursday.

500 Sheridan
Hub cap covers were removed from a 2016 Volkswagen in the 500 block of Sheridan Square between 9 p.m. Wednesday and 8:53 a.m. Thursday.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE
1600 Davis
Someone damaged a window and slashed tires on a vehicle in the 1600 block of Davis Street between 9 p.m. Wednesday and 8:53 a.m. Thursday.

OTHER
1454 Elmwood
Jesus Camacho Silva, 21, of 1906 Washington Blvd., Maywood, was arrested at Evanston police headquarters at 7:51 a.m. Thursday and charged with violating the Controlled Substance Act.

TRAFFIC
1117 Howard
Lewis J. White, 30, of 802 Dobson St., was arrested at 1117 Howard St. at 8:19 p.m. Thursday and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.

Incidents listed appear among the official reports of the Evanston Police Department. An arrest does not constitute an assumption of guilt, which can only be determined by a court of law. Court appearances take place at Cook County 2nd District Court in Skokie.
