A pizza delivery driver was assaulted and robbed early this morning on Dodge Avenue in Evanston.

That story tops today’s daily crime bulleting from Evanston police.

Robbery

1700 Dodge

A pizza delivery driver told police he was making a delivery in the 1700 block of Dodge Avenue about 1:35 this morning. It turned out the address he’d been given was a vacant lot, and as he walked down the sidewalk trying to check it, he walked past a man who hit him on the side of the head, causing the delivery driver to fall to the ground, sustaining a cut to his left knee.

The man who’d hit him, described as a 30- to 40-year-old black male with a slim build and short facial hair wearing a blue jacket, grabbed the driver’s delivery bag containing three pizzas valued at $65 and fled westbound through yards on the block.
