The Evanston Plan Commission late this evening voted 6 to 0 to approve plans for a four-story, 13-unit mixed use condominium complex at 2607-2617 Prairie Ave, just north of the Prairie Joe’s building.

The vote came despite complaints from some neighbors that the project would cast nearby buildings into shadows and that it would be out of context with the smaller buildings further north on the street.

The project next goes to the City Council’s Planning and Development Committee for review.

More details on the project are available here.

The commission tonight also heard more testimony on the proposal to redevelop the Kendall College property with a mix of single family homes and townhouses. That hearing will resume on Wednesday, April 5.
