Here’s a recap of our live coverage of this evening’s Evanston City Council Planning and Development Committee meeting.

Meeting called to order at 7:17 p.m. Minutes approved.

Only two items on the agenda tonight:

Sidewalk Cafe pemit for Pret A Manger, 1701 Sherman Ave. Dennis Marino, of city’s planning staff, says staff is recommending approval of the cafe on the Sherman Avenue side of the building, but not the Church Street side, because of concerns from public works department.

Representative of restaurant says is need to rework the Church Street side because of change in the design of the streetscape there.

Commitee votes to hold the proposal until the next meeting, Nov. 26, to give time to sort out the Church Street layout.

Amendment to special use permit for Alden Estates, 2520 Gross Point Road.

Alderman Ann Rainey, 8th Ward, expresses doubts about the request to reduce the number of Medicaid beds for Evanston residents. Wants to hear from the Commission on Aging on the issue. 

Proposal is introduced, but committee wants more info before a final vote.
