Evanston police and fire officials are investigating an incident at the Target store on Howard Street in which a plastic bottle exploded in a bathroom at the store.

The incident happened about 4 p.m. today. No injuries are reported and police report damage from the incident was limited to the women’s washroom where the bomb exploded.

About two-and-a-half years ago police and fire officials found a couple of unexploded plastic bottle bomb devices in northwest Evanston.

Update 6:30 p.m.: Police Cmdr. Joseph Dugan says there’s been no indications of any threats made against the store and that the store remains open.

He says police are waiting for the Cook County bomb squad to arrive and check the scene for possible clues. Meanwhile detectives are reviewing security camera footage in an effort to determine who might have planted the device.
