The Evanston Environmental Association will host its annual fundraiser, the Duck Race and Pluck, from 3 to to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 13, at the lagoon in Dawes Park.
Funds raised from the event go towards the care of the animals who reside at the Evanston Ecology Center. Center staff will bring some of these “critters” to the event.
The program will start with arts and crafts and the meet-and-greet with the Ecology Center critters. Then, yellow rubber ducks will “race” around the lagoon as they travel on waves created by volunteers with paddles.
Participants may sponsor one duck for $10 or a “Quack Pack” of three for $25. The “fastest” ducks, as well as some plucked from the brace (group), will win prizes for their sponsors.
Ducks can go home with their sponsors after the race. Dawes Park is located at Sheridan Road. at Church Street in Evanston.
For more information or to reserve ducks, please call the Evanston Ecology Center at 847-448-8256.
