Some friends of Evanston’s police force turned out today to show their appreciation by preparing a mid-shift meal for all the officers on duty through the day.

The event, a nearly two-decade tradition in the city, was sponsored by the department’s Police Clergy Team and the alumni association of the Citizen’s Police Academy.

The Police Clergy Team now has ten members, including two sworn in at today’s event — the Rev. Patricia McPherson of the 1st Church of God and Eleanor J. Rodger, lay leader of the Evanston Friends community.
