Evanston police are investigating a shooting that happened just after midnight today at an apartment building in the 800 block of Seward Street.

A 29-year-old man who lives in the apartment where the shooting occurred was hit by a single bullet in the finger and leg. The victim was transported by Evanston Fire paramedics to Presence St. Francis Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police Cmdr. Jay Parrott says the initial investigation indicates that two offenders entered the rear door to the apartment and confronted to the victim.

Parott says police recovered a small amount of illegal drugs from the scene and believe the incident may be drug-related. taking place and that it was not a random act.

Anyone with information regarding this crime are asked to call the Evanston Police Department non-emergency number at 847-866-5000 and ask for the detective bureau or use Text-A-Tip by sending an anonymous text message to CRIMES (274637) and typing EPD TIP in the message line followed by the information.
