Evanston Police are investigating a report that an Evanston Township High School employee had inappropriate contact with students.

Police Cmdr. Ryan Glew says the allegations do not involve “a teacher, coach or counselor” at the school, but declined to indicate the job category of the employee who is the target of the investigation.

Glew said that unlike the reports from two years ago involving a former drama teacher, who was alleged to have abused students over a period of decades, the new allegations involve recent incidents.

In a message posted on the ETHS website Thursday, Superintendent Eric Witherspoon said the school was made aware of the allegations on Tuesday.

Glew said the police began their investigation on Wednesday. He said this morning that it’s still too early in the investigation to determine whether any charges will be filed.
