Update 9:20 a.m.: Two customers got into a dispute at the Starbucks on Dempster Street at Chicago Avenue about 7:35 this morning that left one of them hospitalized and the other at least temporarily in police custody.

Evanston Police Cmdr. Joseph Dugan says the two Evanston residents — ages 61 and 67 — were frequent customers at the shop. But this morning they got into a verbal argument that escalated to a physical confrontation.

Then the younger man collapsed onto the floor with an apparent heart attack and was transported to St. Francis Hospital where he’s undergoing treatment.

The older man was taken to the Evanston police station while detectives investigate the incident and try to determine from surveilance video how the confrontation unfolded.
