Evanston police are asking for the public’s help in investigating a shooting incident that happened late Saturday in the 300 block of Custer Avenue.
Cmdr. Brian Henry says that just before 11 p.m. Saturday officers responded multiple calls of shots fired in the area but did not find any victims or offenders.
However, a few minutes later a 19 year old Evanston man arrived at St. Francis Hospital with gun shot wounds to his left side and back and the hospital also treated a second Evanston man for a graze wound to his arm.
Henry says officers and detectives determined that the shooting occurred in the west alley off Custer. Three people were in a vehicle parked in the alley when someone fired seven shots at the vehicle, striking two of them.
Police found seven shell casings at the scene. The 19-year-old victim is being treated at St. Francis Hospital and is in stable condition. He is expected to recover from his injuries. The 18-year-old was treated and released.
There are no suspects in custody.
