The Evanston Police Department will host a town hall meeting on Tuesday, June 20, to discuss cultural awareness and community policing.
The session will be held at 7 p.m. in the Parasol Room at the Civic Center. Police Cmdr. Joseph Dugan says it’s the first of four planned town hall meetings on police topics.
The other sessions, on dates not yet scheduled, will discuss:
- Drugs, gangs and unresolved homicide cases.
- Scial media, crime prevention and community policing.
- Rights, responsibilities and reasonability in Evanston.
Dugan says the goal of the meetings is to engage in a positive and productive conversation with the community while working to develop feasible solutions to community concerns and explaining police policies, procedures and protocols.
Each meeting will open with a facilitated panel discussion followed by a question and answer session.
