Evanston police say officers from the Neighborhood Enforcement Team were searching this afternoon for a suspect in a shots fired incident from several months ago when they spotted him in the vicinity of 7200 N. Hermitage Ave. in Chicago.

Police Cmdr. Joseph Dugan says the suspect, a 20-year-old Evanston man, ran from officers but was captured and that the arresting officers found he was carrying a loaded Smith and Wesson .40 caliber pistol with an extended magazine.

Dugan says the shots fired incident for which the suspect was being sought occurred in February on Foster Street in Evanston.

Charges are pending against the suspect.
