The Evanston Police Department will offer a free active shooter response training class on Saturday, Oct.. 5.

Police Cmdr. Ryan Glew says the department has offerd such training to a variety of local businesses, organizations, and faith based communities over the past several years and now wants to offer this training to the Evanston community as a whole.

The training is designed to offer a pro-active response to attendees in the event of a crisis. The training will include a variety of topics such as:

  • Trends
  • Preparedness
  • Organizational Response
  • Individual Response
  • Basic Life Saving Overview
  • Interactive Response Drills

This freeinteractive training last from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is open to those that live and/or work in Evanston.

Pre-registration is required and you must be 18 years old to attend. The deadline to register is Sept. 27. You can register online here.
