Bike bargain hunters will have a chance to score a new ride when the Evanston Police Department auctions unclaimed bicycles Saturday.

Some classy cycles including two Cannondales and a Gary Fisher racing bike worth over $2,500 will go on the block along tricycles and many more bikes of all sorts.

Previews start at 9 a.m., the auction itself begins at 10 a.m. at police headquarters at 1454 Elmwood Ave., near the northeast corner of the building. Cash and checks, with photo ID, are accepted for payment.

If you’re trying to unload an unwanted bike the police department also accepts bike donations 24 hours a day, seven days a week at the lobby desk. Proceeds from the bike auction support the police pension fund.
