“Today’s decision is a victory for our Constitution, for freedom, and for the safety of our families,” said Pollak, who is challenging incumbent Jan Schakowsky in the November election.

“Many people in the 9th Congressional District are living in fear, because they have no way to protect themselves against armed criminals in the event that police cannot respond. The Supreme Court’s decision to overturn the ban will bring some relief.”

Pollak added: “Just this morning, before the Court decision, my opponent’s camp attacked my belief that the right to bear arms is essential to our freedom. She has long tried to restrict Second Amendment rights. It turns out that she is on the wrong side of the Constitution. The Constitution applies just as much in Chicago as anywhere else–and we need to elect a representative who will uphold it.”
