The county clerk’s office reports 1,588 people cast ballots during early voting at the Evanston Civic Center.
That was the second highest total for any of the 41 early voting locations in suburban Cook County. Early voting ended on April 2.

Evanston voters face contested races for mayor and for township assessor. There also are contested races for alderman in six of the city’s nine wards.

In school races, five candidates are seeking four seats on the District 65 board, but there’s no competition in races for the Evanston Township High School and Oakton Community College boards.

The candidates for city clerk and township assessor also face no opposition.
