This is the season for what the police refer to as “porch pirates,” who steal packages delivered to homes and apartments. One such incident, in the 100 block of Ridge Avenue, is among the stories in today’s daily crime bulletin from Evanston police.
EPD Comdr. Ryan Glew suggests having online purchases shipped to a workplace address or making an arrangement with a neighbor to pick up packages delivered to your home.
Theft
100 Ridge
A package delivered to an apartment in the 100 block of Ridge Avenue was stolen sometime on Thanksgiving Day.
Burglary
Darrow at Lyons
Someone broke the side window of a 2000 Buick near Darrow Avenue and Lyons Street between noon Sunday and 6:54 p.m. yesterday and stole a vehicle part inside.
Incidents listed appear among the official reports of the Evanston Police Department. An arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt, which can only be determined by a court of law. Court appearances take place in Cook County 2nd District Circuit Court in Skokie.
