Update 2:05 p.m. More than 800 ComEd customers in Evanston were without power starting around noon today. The utility now reports that service has been restored to most customers affected.
There’s no word on the cause of the outage.
The area affected includes a much smaller area in the 1600 and 1700 blocks of Wesley and Ashland avenues that was hit by an outage Tuesday that affected just over 50 customers. That outage was apparently caused by a blown transformer in an alley. It lasted from around 7 a.m. until after noon.
The exact boundaries of the area affected by today’s outage couldn’t immediately be determined.
