Evanston officials say there was a power failure on the southeast side of Evanston for a couple of hours this evening.

The problem was reported about 6 p.m. and affected as many as 2,000 customers in an area bounded by Greenwood Street on the north, South Boulevard on the south, Lake Shore Boulevard on the east and Ridge Avenue on the west.

The problem was reported about 6 p.m. and affected as many as 2,000 customers in an area bounded by Greenwood Street on the north, South Boulevard on the south, Lake Shore Boulevard on the east and Ridge Avenue on the west.

Power was restored by around 8 p.m. Commonwealth Edison officials say the cause of the outage is under investigation.
