April 15 will mark the 16th anniversary and the last day of service for the Prairie Moon restaurant at 1502 Sherman Ave. in Evanston.
Owner Robert Strom says he’s planning a big party for the closing weekend as he makes plans to move the restaurant to a new location.
On Friday, April 13, the party will feature The E-Town Get Down and DJ Tee-Bot. Customers can enjoy the “Greatest Hits” dishes from the past 16 years. The “Greatest Hits” will continue Saturday through the final day of service on Sunday April 15.
The closing comes as part of an arrangement with Albion Residential, a Chicago real estate development company that is scheduled to build a 15-story, 273-unit luxury, mixed-use building on the 1500 block of Sherman.
Strom has also reached an agreement with Albion to open a restaurant concept in the first floor of the development. Expected opening is in latter part of 2019.
Prairie Moon opened on April 15, 2002 with the mission to serve authentic regional American dishes. It quickly developed a reputation as a pioneer in craft beer offering customers local, small-batch, and hard to find beers.
The new location will continue to serve a similar menu with the best ingredients and beer in America. The commitment to hiring local staff will also continue with many of the current staff following to the new location.
