The Evanston/Skokie District 65 school board Monday named Churchill Daniels principal of Oakton School and Michael Conran principal of King Lab School.

Daniels, a veteran District 65 employee, has served as Oakton’s interim principal this year. Before that he was assistant principal at Oakton, interim assistant principal at Chute Middle School and a 6th and 7th grade teacher.

He earned a master’s of education degree in educational leadership from National Louis University and a bachelor’s degree in secondary education from Illinois State University.

Superintendent Hardy Murphy said Daniels’ “ability to foster collegiality and team building at Oakton School are among his many strengths.”

Conran will start at King Lab School July 1. He has 12 years of experience as a school principal in Kenilworth, Oak Brook and Lake Forest. He also worked as a sixth grade teacher in the Winnetka Public Schools.

Conran received a doctorate in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from Loyola University in 2004. He has a master’s degree in educational administration and a bachelor’s degree from National Louis University.

Murphy commented that Conran’s interest in the arts, his background as an instructional leader with a K-8 population, and his classroom experiences from his teaching career will all help the King Lab community.

Murphy also thanked the interview teams of parents and teachers that made recommendations of candidates to fill both openings.
