  1. Egon Schiele and City Web site? Our moral public officials
I had a good laugh today when I noticed the city posted a print by Egon Schiele on their web site to promote a show of Evanston printmakers.

I am missing the connection? He dead over 100 years ago. Looks like staff just took an image off the internet.

What would our so called Mayor say to this? Ofcourse given she most likely knows nothing about Art History, along with her lack of skills to understand city operations, she would have no opinion. Some might rember she would not allow the Tilt Kilt to come her and used her position to block them from openning since she would not give them a liquor license. She didn’t like how the young women would be dressed. At least they would be clothed. Egon was run out of a small town in Austria for using the towns under age girls as his nude models.

I would suggest for those who do not know of Egon’s work google him, a recent book about him was called the ” pornographer of Vienna” he is well know for is rather interesting nudes. I thought Wally runs a family web site Rated for children )

Ofcourse Egon is also considered one of the major artists of this century, a recent landscape work of his sold for over $40 million dollars. We have Wally running out and buying art work for the city, he recently spent $6,000 of tax payer money for a work of unknow artist that now hangs in Fleetwood, which almost know one in town knows about. City staff have claimed to me Wally maded a good investment.

Frankly the city web site has problems, the fact staff doesn’t know what they are posting is the least of the problems. It appears to me, the site has also been misused for political purposes to promote certain public officials agendas and runs a narrow line, for misusing public funds for trying to make certain public officials look like they actual are doing the public good which might be considered a violation of election laws.

  2. How much misinformation is on the city web site?
I went over to the openning of the show, Proofs of Purchase, the city web site stated “Print by Egon Schiele”, the card at the show stated “Egon Schiele” Polyester plate lithograph by Juliane von Kunhardt.

Wally how about a retraction? How much misinformation do we taxpayers get from the city web site? I remember they were telling everyone a few years back no tax increase when in reality it was several percent.

Staff errors are fairly common and there is no process to correct them, some of my favorities involve false numbers by the economic development group that did not even add up. Council members keep on approving the unprofessional work, which is a reflection on their own ability.
