Evidence techicians and detectives from the North Regional Major Crimes Task Force were on the scene again today of last Tuesday’s fatal shooting of two brothers in their Evanston tobacco shop.

An Evanston police spokesman this afternoon said there was nothing new to report about the investigation into the deaths of Azim Hakeem, 38, and Mobeen Hakeem, 34, whose bodies were found in the basement of the Evanston Pipe & Tobacco shop at 923 Davis St. by officers asked by a relative to check the property after the men failed to respond to phone calls.

Results of autopsies completed Thursday confirmed that the two had suffered gunshot wounds, but left determination of the manner and cause of death unresolved, pending further investigation.

Police have said there was no indication at the scene that the store had been robbed, but have declined to release additional details, saying that could jeopardize the investigation.
