The period for Evanston residents to file property tax appeals with the Cook County Board of Review opens today and continues through July 30.

If you’re looking for advice on how to file your own appeal, you could attend either of two seminars on the appeals process being sponsored by local officials.

One will be held on Thursday, July 18, in the Maple Room at the Levy Center, 300 Dodge Ave. from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

The other will be held on Tuesday, July 23, in the Parasol Room at the Civic Center, 2100 Ridge Ave. from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

The sessons are presented by Cook County Commissioner Larry Suffredin, Cook County Board of Review Commissioner Michael Cabonargi, State Senators Laura Fine and Healther Steans, State Representatives Robyn Gabel, Kelly Cassidy and Jennifer Gong-Gershowitz and the City of Evanston.
