The City of Evanston and Cook County Commissioner Larry Suffredin will host a property tax appeals workshop at the Civic Center at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 12.

Property tax appeals are now being accepted by the county assessor’s office, and the deadline for filing appeals is May 27.

The Seminar will review how to file a property tax assessment appeal and other areas of interest to property tax payers.

“It is vitally important for all homeowners to appeal their property tax assessment on an annual basis to ensure that they are paying their fair share,” Suffredin said. “In case you overpaid, my staff is also able to analyze your property tax bill, file for any missing exemptions and might be able to help homeowners receive a refund in previous years.”

The Assessor is now also accepting appeals online.
