Evanston police and firefighters gathered this morning at Fireman’s Park for a ceremony to remember the lives lost in the terror attacks on this date nine years ago.
Mayor Elizabeth Tisdahl, Fire Chief Greg Klaiber, Dar-us-Sunnah Masjid President Mohammed Saiduzzaman and Fire Chaplain Ken Simpson were among the speakers at the outdoor ceremony, held as rain fell this morning across the city.
The event, held at Fire Station #1 in recent years, was moved to this year to Fireman’s Park, recently rededicated after a volunteer rebuilding effort by firefighters and other community members.
