Gov. Pat Quinn told about 125 Evanston Democrats Sunday that he’s proud of progress made to implement the federal affordable health care law in Illinois.

Speaking at the annual meeting of the Democratic Party of Evanston at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Evanston, Quinn also praised moves to close large state institutions for the mentally disabled and provide community based care solutions instead.

Quinn also drew applause when he called for raising the minimum wage in Illinois from $8.25 to $10 an hour.

Other speakers at the meeting included State Sen. Mike Frerichs, whose running for state treasurer and comptroller candidate Duffy Blackburn.
