Governor Pat Quinn announced plans in his budget message today to close the Department of Children and Family Services office at 8100 McCormick Blvd. in Skokie.

It’s the only of dozens of facilities across the state slated for closure or consolidation in the budget that is located on the North Shore.

A map showing the full list, prepared Illinois Statehouse News, is available online.

State officials say the Skokie office and some other DCFS outposts will be consolidated with others in the metro area, so no staffers are expected to lose their jobs. But the state will save more than $626,000 a year by not having to pay rent for the property.

A date for closing the office was not announced.
