It’s been a big week for news in Evanston, with a marathon City Council meeting, the bomb explosion near Nichols School, and a dramatic change in direction by the library board Wednesday night.

But one quote seems to stand out.

It came from Police Commander Tom Guenther as he was trying to get a crowd of reporters and photographers to move back behind a church building across the street as the county bomb squad prepared to detonate the second pipe bomb in Fitzsimons Park around 9 a.m. Tuesday morning.

As Guenther said:

“If you can see the bomb, the bomb can see you.”
