A short period of winter weather is expected to influence rush hour in Evanston this morning.
Rain and sleet have started falling in the 5 o’clock hour and some snow is possible.
Assistant Public Works Director James Maiworm says precipitation is expected to be over by 10 a.m.
Temperatures are expected to rise during the morning for a high of 40 degrees today
At this point, he says, the amount of snow or sleet is difficult to anticipate for Evanston — it may just be an all rain event. If it does snow, less than a half inch is expected with little on pavement.
As a precaution, public works crews spread anti-icing chemicals on the main roads overnight.
