Poor Wally, looks like he had a bad night
Last night Wally during the discussion of the library budget went into an attack on the "Friends of the Library"placing some of the blame on the problems of the library on them. Is Wally losing his patience?
I have no connection to the Friends, I can not even remember if I gave them the check at one point to join. I attend one of their book sales. That being said, I think they did a outstanding job when they open the "Twig" to replace the south branch Wally closed. The Twig clearly is providing a service in south Evanston to many people at NO cost to the taxpayers. I find it ironic the city for years put into their budget they need to spend hundred of thousand of dollars to fix ADA problems in the south branch a building they rented, and the Friends solved the problem. by moving accross the street!
Wally on many fronts is getting shut down, He can not just run the city without citizen input, like it or not. Ofcourse I do not put a large amount of blame on Wally the council and Mayor handle the entire Library issue very poorly.
Wally needs to watch his staff better, last night staff proposed increasing the fees on large trash containers, Looks like citizens will start turning them in? Remember last year, what happened 4% of our tax increase is due to the screw up in sale of yard waste stickers large numbers of residents went out an bought yard waste carts. You would think staff would have learned? Not a chance, At least a few council members got it right and asked them to consider the number of large carts that would be returned. How incompetent is this?
