P3 – $100K grant from RTA for Main Street Station transit oriented development plan/

Alderman Don Wilson, 4th Ward, says the $125K of the planning grant would go a long way to make the actual improvements — says now no bike racks at the Main Street Metra station. Lots of money going to the study — should be doing the work instead. But it is what it is — wish they would just paint the bridge and clean it up.

Alderman Melissa Wynne, 3rd Ward, says she shares Wilson’s frustrations, but getting a plan is a way to get the funding for the actual projects.

Alderman Judy Fiske, 1st Ward, says not accepting the money would be a huge mistake — also gives the public an opportunity to be involved in the planning.

Wilson says he’s not opposing it, should take the money, but at some point, at some level, need to start getting things done differently.

Approved.
