CTA officials say service on the Red Line is disrupted this evening because of police action in the vicinity of the Wilson station on the north side.

Trains heading to and from the Loop are halted between the Berwyn and Addison stations with shuttle buses used to transport passengers between them, according to the CTA’s website..

The Chicago Tribune reported that police were in the area of Broadway and Leland Avenue about 5:20 p.m., with a suspect barricaded in a building in the 4600 block of North Broadway, 

The disruption also affected Purple Line express service during the evening rush hour.

Update 9 a.m. 12/6/11: The police action was resolved with three people arrested around 10 p.m. and CTA service operated normally during this morning’s rush hour.
