  1. Southwestern Evanston Parade Nostalgia

What a great documentary ot the greatest 4th of July Parade.  We moved from Evanston to Santa Fe last July (after the 4th) and are discovering another set of great traditions, but I really missed the fabulous Evanston parade today!

  2. Parade pics

Bill, thanks for great photos!  Didn't see most of what is shown cause I was IN the parade this year…which is why I know that pic #16 is the banda band that was on our St. Nicholas Parish float (not the Wilmette Community Band)!  (There was a St. Nick's banner on the float below the band, but it doesn't show in the picture.)

    1. Parade pix

      Hi Jim,

Thanks … and good catch on the band pix mixup. Fixed now.

  3. What about the end of the Parade?

Nice pictures, but the end of the parade was missed. Specifically, I was hoping to see a picture of the young man who proposed to his girlfriend. The Parade also had its share of marching politicians.

    1. Parade math

      Hi John,

There were 104 entries in the parade plus thousands of spectators.

We published 29 photos. Not everybody was going to get in.

The marriage proposal was cute, but we weren't at the location where it happened when it happened. Catch it on a replay of the ECTV coverage if you can.

As for your fellow politicians, we had some shots of them, but nothing that seemed memorable. Besides, politicians get their pictures published all the time. Most of the rest of the people in the parade don't.

For some parading politician shots, try last year's parade photo gallery.
