Northwestern University officials say a female student reported she was criminally sexually abused Monday evening at the Technological Institute on campus.

A report on the university’s website says that about 9 p.m. the student was in a second-floor hallway of the classroom and lab building at 2145 Sheridan Road when a man approached and started to talk with her.

When the student began to walk away, the man grabbed her arm and began to grab her below the waist.

The victim then screamed and the offender fled in an unknown direction

University police searched the building and neighboring areas but were unable to locate the man.

The victim was not hurt and refused medical attention.

The offender was described as a black male, about 25 years of age, dark complexion, 5-feet-8-inches tall, thin to medium build with shoulder length hair braids. He was clean-shaven and wearing a white oversized short sleeve T-shirt.

Persons with information about the incident can contact NU police at 847-491-3456.
