Multiple reports say Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker plans to issue a statewide shelter-in-place order at a scheduled 3 p.m. news conference today with Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot.

The Chicago Tribune says the order is expected to go into effect Saturday.

The Sun-Times says the governor is acting only after weeks of pleading with residents to stay home.

Chicago Business says the governor has been hinting for days that an order like one imposed recently in San Francisco might be coming.

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo issued a similar order this morning.
