The restaurant space at the Graduate Evanston hotel is scheduled to open Friday evening under a familiar name.
The restaurant is being called The Homestead Room — keying off the former Homestead Hotel name of the building itself.
“We’re thrilled to open the doors of The Homestead Room and welcome in both locals and travelers alike for a uniquely Evanston dining experience,” says Eric Smith, the Graduate Evanston’s general manager.
The Homestead Room menu will offer shared plates as well as salads, burgers, sandwiches and mains. Key menu items include Pigs in a Blanket and Buffalo Fried Cauliflower to start, followed by classic Mixed Green, Cobb and Caesar salads.
Main courses include the Graduate Smash Burger and Fried Green Tomato Grilled Cheese as well as the Half Brick Chicken and Hanger Steak.
The beverage program celebrates all things Chicago and North Shore, including local tap brews and the John Hughes inspired cocktail menu featureing Happy Birthday Samantha, The Wet Bandits and The Old 96’er.
With an original fireplace at its center, the restaurant space includes a 26-seat bar and seating areas that flow seamlessly from one side of the lobby to the other.
The Homestead Room, at 1625 Hinman Ave., will be open for small bites, dinner and drinks from 4 p.m. to midnight on Friday and Saturday and 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Sunday, Monday and Thursday. The restaurant will be closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays until October when opening hours are extended.
Reservations are available by phone and walk-ins are welcome. More information is available online.
