Evanston Mayor Lorraine Morton received a prolonged standing ovation as she wrapped up her 16th State of the City address at a packed luncheon meeting Friday in the Hotel Orrington ballroom.

The mayor, who’s retiring this year at age 90, recounted some of the city’s major achievements during her time in office. She also praised city staff for bringing in a budget that avoids a property tax increase this year despite revenue shortfalls that have forced the city to leave dozens of jobs unfilled.
