Evanston police and fire crews have blocked off Ridge Avenue from Brummel to Mulford streets after an incident in which a person was reportedly found along the CTA Yellow Line tracks embankment.

The incident was first reported about 8:10 a.m.

The person — a woman who reportedly suffered some sort of medical emergency but was not hit by a train — is now being treated by Fire Department paramedics at the scene.

CTA service on the Yellow Line has been suspended, and the CTA is suggesting riders use the Route 97 bus instead.

Update 8:38 a.m.: The woman now reportedly has been transported to the hospital and police are working to reopen traffic.

Update 8:53 a.m.: Ridge Avenue has been reopened to traffic, but Yellow Line service has not yet resumed.

Update 3:45 p.m.: Police say the woman found along the tracks died later this morning at St. Francis Hospital. It appears she had not been hit by a train, and how she ended up where she was found hasn’t been determined. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s office is investigating to determine the cause of her death.
