The sign boards are up and the long-awaited rebuilding of Ridge Avenue through most of Evanston is getting underway.
City officials say detours of southbound Ridge Avenue traffic will start on Monday with traffic routed onto Asbury Avenue from Greenleaf to Howard streets.
More details about the $6.38 million project to rebuild 2.1 miles of the major artery from Howard to Clark Streets is available on the city’s website.
CTA Bus Routes 201 and 206
As of Saturday, there were no posted notices or signs along the 201 or 206 bus routes informing riders that there will be no southbound service along Ridge for the next several months. There are no signs or flyers posted on these buses, either. Today we did not see any notice posted at the southbound bus shelter on Hull and Ridge. Perhaps there will be a sign there tomorrow directing bus passengers to walk two blocks directly west to catch a bus on Asbury.

Due to construction, the southbound lanes of Ridge Avenue between Howard and Greenleaf will be temporarily closed. Southbound #201 Central Ridge and #206 Evanston Circulator buses will be rerouted.
Customers can board and exit buses on any corner on Asbury between Greenleaf and Howard.
