  1. Very specific theft

"The bedroom door to an apartment in the 2200 block of Foster Street was opened with a key. Stolen was a rifle with a pistol grip at 8:46 a.m. Thursday. Suspect is a 5-foot-5-inch-tall black male weighing 175 pounds."

So, the apartment was not broken into, only the room and with a key, the only thing stolen a rifle?  Sounds extremely specific. How long until we hear of the rifle being used to shoot someone? People who legally own a gun should also be required to have a safe.

  2. “rifle with a pistol grip”

    "rifle with a pistol grip"

Is that to imply the rifle was some sort of semi-auto AR-15 or AK-47 variant? You know, the kind of rifle that is completely legal everywhere in the US except for Cook County and Washington DC? If so, will EPD be charging the former owner of the rifle with keeping an "assault" weapon inside Cook County? If this is the case, I'm breaking my own AR-15 out of storage and bringing it home to Evanston. The only safe place for a rifle like that is here, with me. Anyone who owns such a rifle should obviously keep it locked in a rack or safe like I do (and nearly 100% of those who do, do).
