A victim was struck from behind as his wallet was taken at the South Boulevard station, and robbers punched and kicked a victim as they attempted to take his bicycle at the Davis Street station. These among the stories in today’s crime bulletin from Evanston police.

ROBBERY

600 South Boulevard

A 75-year-old Evanston man was struck from behind as a robber took his wallet at the South Boulevard Chicago Transit Authority station as he was attempting to add to his fare card at about 6 p.m. on Christmas eve.

1600 Benson

Robbers punched and kicked a 34-year-old Chicago man as they attempted to take his bicycle on the platform at the Davis Street Chicago Transit Authority station at about 7:15 p.m. Saturday. Police apprehended three male juveniles in the incident.

BURGLARY

1400 Madison

A purse was stolen out of an unlocked 2014 Honda in the 1400 block of Madison Street between 5:45 p.m. last Monday and 11:30 a.m. Tuesday.

1100 Madison

Tools were taken from an unlocked vehicle in the 1100 block of Madison Street between 5 p.m. Wednesday and 2 p.m. Thursday.

300 Dodge

Someone entered an unlocked 2002 Chevrolet in the 300 block of Dodge Avenue around 3:20 p.m. Tuesday. Nothing was reported missing.

900 Chicago

A suspect forced entry to the rear door of a gymnasium in the 900 block of Chicago Avenue and stole an Apple computer around 4:41 p.m. Wednesday.

1600 Chicago

An unlocked 2003 Acura was entered in a parking lot in the 1600 block of Chicago Avenue between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Dec. 20.

400 Howard

A burglar removed a padlock and gained entry to a commercial storage unit in the 400 block of Howard Street between noon on Dec. 18 and 8 p.m. on Dec. 20 and stole household items.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE

2400 Emerson

An apartment window was broken in the 2400 block of Emerson Street at about 4:30 a.m. on Friday.

1200 Chicago

The driver’s side window of a 2017 Nissan was damaged in a parking lot in the 1200 block of Chicago Avenue at 9:40 a.m. Tuesday.

1600 Washington

The doors of a 2019 Ford were keyed in a parking lot in the 1600 block of Washington Street between 6 p.m. Thursday and 1:30 p.m. Friday.

DRUGS

5211 Old Orchard

Hari Hugh Lele, 24, of 1228 Forest Ave., was arrested at 5211 Old Orchard Road at 5:48 p.m. Tuesday and charged with possession of a controlled substance. He is due in court on Jan. 15 at 1:30 p.m.

1814 Lemar

Raul Miranda, 21, of 1213 Cleveland St., was arrested at 1814 Lemar Ave. at 10:57 p.m. Friday and charged with possession of a controlled substance.

THEFT

2100 Howard

A black 2018 Toyota Camry was taken, then recovered, from the 2100 block of Howard Street at about 4:10 p.m. Saturday.

1100 South Boulevard

A catalytic converter was removed from a 2005 Toyota in the 1100 block of South Boulevard between midnight on Dec. 18 and 9:53 a.m. on Tuesday.

900 Greenleaf

A catalytic converter was taken from a 2006 Toyota in the 900 block of Greenleaf Street around 1:30 p.m. Saturday.

1100 Maple

A catalytic converter was removed from a 2006 Toyota in the 1100 block of Maple Avenue between 4 p.m. Thursday and 1:49 p.m. yesterday.

1100 Chicago

A motorized scooter was taken from the Jewel-Osco grocery store in the 1100 block of Chicago Avenue between 6 p.m. on Dec. 8 and 6 a.m. on Dec. 9.

600 Church

A wallet was taken from an unsecured office in a medical building in the 600 block of Church Street around 7:20 p.m. Tuesday.

1100 Grove

A package that had been delivered to the common area of an apartment building in the 1100 block of Grove Street was taken between 12:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Wednesday.

1600 Sherman

T-shirts were taken from a store in the 1600 block of Sherman Avenue around 4:10 p.m. Wednesday.

2200 Sherman

A package that had been delivered to a home in the 2200 block of Sherman Avenue was stolen about 3:43 p.m. Tuesday.

1700 Dodge

A package delivered to a common area in the 1700 block of Dodge Avenue was stolen about noon on Tuesday.

1800 Laurel

A package delivered to a home in the 1800 block of Laurel Avenue was stolen about 6:35 p.m. Wednesday.

1700 Hovland

A package delivered to an apartment common area in the 1700 block of Hovland Court was stolen at 2:38 p.m. Thursday.

400 Sherman

A package delivered to an apartment common area in the 400 block of Sherman Avenue was stolen between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m. on Dec. 8.

TRAFFIC

1454 Elmwood

Harvey D. Penn, 25, of 6355 N. Claremont Ave., Chicago, was arrested at Evanston police headquarters at 3:30 p.m. on Dec. 18 and charged with a traffic violation.

Incidents listed appear among the official reports of the Evanston Police Department. An arrest does not constitute an assumption of guilt, which can only be determined by a court of law. Court appearances take place in Cook County 2nd District Court in Skokie.
