An 18-year-old Evanston man told police he was walking near the intersection of Dodge Avenue and Madison Street just after 9 p.m. Saturday when three men in a green Ford SUV pulled to a stop beside him.

Two of the men got out. One placed a sharp object to the victim’s back and forced him to turn over his keys, wallet and cell phone, before they fled in scene in the SUV.

The victim said the robbers — one black, one white and one Hispanic — appeared to range in age from their late teens to early 20s.

About 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon a few blocks away at 1017 Dodge Ave., another trio attempted to grab the wallet of a 41-year old man. He managed to fight them off, but was struck in the eye during the struggle.

Police say they stopped three teenage suspects in that incident apparently fleeing the scene, but no charges had been filed as of this morning.
