A 59-year-old man was accosted by a robber in the 700 block of Dewey Avenue early Saturday. This among the stories in today’s crime bulletin from Evanston police.

ROBBERY

700 Dewey

A 59-year-old man had just parked his car in front of his house in the 700 block of Dewey Avenue at about 2 a.m. Saturday morning when a white SUV pulled alongside him and a man estimated at 25 to 30 years old got out of the vehicle and attempted unsuccessfully to grab the victim’s lunchbox. The two fought briefly, then the perpetrator departed. No one was injured.

BATTERY

123 Callan

Mylen Stephen Blake, 42, of 123 Callan Ave., was arrested at that address at 3:55 a.m. Friday and charged with domestic battery.

BURGLARY

600 Mulford

A burglar forced entry to a storage unit in the 600 block of Mulford Street between midnight on Jan. 9 and 10 a.m. Friday and stole laundry detergent.

900 Sheridan

A burglar stole personal documents from an unlocked 2012 Honda in the 900 block of Sheridan Road between 7:30 p.m. Friday and 7:30 a.m. Saturday.

500 Main

A burglar gained entry to an unlocked apartment in the 500 block of Main Street between Dec. 24 and 2 p.m. Thursday.

1600 Greenwood

A burglar entered an unlocked 2005 Honda in the 1600 block of Greenwood Street between 3 p.m. Friday and 11:03 a.m. Sunday.

3300 Noyes

A burglar gained entry to an unlocked garage in the 3300 block of Noyes Street and then entered an unlocked 2010 Honda.

300 Callan

Someone gained entry to the common area of a building in the 300 block of Callan Avenue between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Friday and stole packages.

OTHER

1815 Central

Jason T. Hardy, 32, of 2121 Brummel St., was arrested at 1815 Central St. at 9:46 a.m. on Jan. 8 and charged with unlawful use of a weapon. He is due in court on Feb. 1 at 10:30 a.m.

THEFT

2400 Howard

Shoplifters stole alcoholic products from the Jewel-Osco grocery store in the 2400 block of Howard Street at 7:30 p.m. Saturday and at about 1:10 p.m. yesterday.

1100 Maple

A catalytic converter was stolen from a 2006 Toyota in the 1100 block of Maple Avenue between midnight Thursday and 3:30 p.m. Friday.

Crain at Maple

A catalytic converter was stolen from a Honda near Crain Street and Maple Avenue at 1:09 p.m. Sunday.

1600 Sherman

Food items were taken from the CVS Pharmacy in the 1600 block of Sherman Avenue at 1:48 p.m. yesterday.

1900 Central

Medication was taken from an apartment in the 1900 block of Central Street between 8 a.m. Friday and 10:48 a.m. Saturday.

1700 Dodge

Packages were stolen from a residence in the 1700 block of Dodge Avenue between midnight Thursday and 1:15 p.m. yesterday.

TRAFFIC

1849 Asbury

Nia S. Jackson, 21, of 1921 Foster St., was arrested at 1849 Asbury Ave. at 2:48 p.m. Friday and charged with a traffic violation.

Incidents listed appear among the official reports of the Evanston Police Department. An arrest does not constitute an assumption of guilt, which can only be determined by a court of law. Court appearances take place in Cook County 2nd District Court in Skokie.
